Started by a Teenager.
Driven by Purpose.

Many Trains was founded by Thomas (Tommy) Barry, a model train enthusiast with a vision bigger than any layout. What started as a love for the craft grew into something more — a public benefit corporation dedicated to sharing that passion with others.

Based in central Massachusetts, Many Trains isn't just about the hobby. It's about what model trains can do — bring people together, teach patience and craftsmanship, and spark imagination in young people who might never have held a locomotive.

Many Trains is a hub for model railroad knowledge, community, and social good across central Massachusetts.

A growing collection of model train videos — layout tours, build walkthroughs, product reviews, and rolling stock showcases. All free, all made with love.

How-To Guides

Step-by-step tutorials for every skill level. From your first loop of track to scratch-building structures and wiring DCC systems.

Kit Donations

We donate model train starter kits to underprivileged youth in central Massachusetts communities. Every kid deserves to experience the magic of the hobby.

Community Events

Train shows, build days, open layouts, and meetups. We bring together hobbyists of all ages and backgrounds to share, learn, and connect.

Youth Programs

Structured programs that introduce young people to model railroading. Learn teamwork, problem-solving, electronics, woodworking, and art — all through trains.
